Hey kids, Daddy's back.

                It’s been a while; that’s mostly down to me getting disgusted with the internet, and people in general. So I did the sensible and mature thing and unplugged from social media and focussed on more important things, like trying to remember where I packed away all my old 90’s music CDs.
                For a long while I wanted to do a Brexit/Trump post about how these two things happened. But frankly it would be both a waste of my brain, and waste of my time writing it. But it boils down to this:

                YOU WILL NOT CHANGE SOMEBODIES MIND BY INSLULTING THEM!

                Pretty simple eh? So many people were in a hurry to scream words like “fascist,” “homophobe” and “racist” without really thinking through the result of the action. Behold:

                I am Joe/Jane public. Like most people I can probably be defined as “Centre left” in my political views, I have a vague idea of what people are representing politically, but generally tend to favour whoever makes the most sense at the time.

Joe/Jane represents the “Scramble for the middle” the people most politicians want to appeal to, they are the swing vote.

                Somebody suggests Joe/Jane a mean name, two things happen, the “Screw you” effect kicks in and they will invariably now be less inclined to hear the message you give, and Joe/Jane then turns to the “New Hitler” you have mentioned to see if they are as bad as you say, and surprise surprise, they aren’t!  So you’ve set such a low bar, they can’t help but pass it. Trump, for all his failings, isn’t a fucking PACTH on Hitler! Yet by comparing him to a mass murdering genocidal maniac constantly you have inadvertently lowered expectations so much that he cannot help but surpass them. The same with Brexit, when you doomsay and scream that everyone is a racist constantly from the rooftops, all you do is create the same reaction. People look at these politicians painted as foaming at the mouth white supremacists and discover that their message, while “bad “isn’t “Round them up and gas them” bad, and could even be argued to be a “necessary evil” and what’s more they’re are more sympathetic to this message because the opponents of it have been so busy suggesting that just by listening to the “New Hitler” they like to shave their heads and curb-stomp brown kids when they’re on a lunch break.

                That went on longer then I wanted it to, anyway… to the point.

                It’s just a small update this time, I will get back to writing more regularly now and inflicting it on you in order to preserve my sanity and not accidentally vow on the blood of my ancestors to educate people through inserting large textbooks into their colons.
